Cursed or Blessed?

In our lives, we have to make the decision to believe God’s Word – above everything else. If He said we’re blessed and not cursed then we should agree with Him.

Many think that when they become a Christian that the only thing they have ahead of them is a tough time. Even preachers try to falsely tell you, “Now that you’ve accepted Jesus in your life, get ready for suffering.” Sure, we don’t float through life on flowery beds of ease. Yet we have to ask ourselves the question, “Am I cursed or blessed?”

Galatians 3:13 says “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:”

The Bible says Christ was made a curse for us. He has redeemed us. Redeem means to buy back, to rescue from the penalty of God’s violated law. So Jesus truly paid the full price for sin so we could come back into fellowship with Him. The Good News is that, what we couldn’t do, Jesus could.  He didn’t need to rescue Himself, but notice He rescued and redeemed us in order “That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”  Galatians 3:14

He gave His life for us that the blessing of Abraham would come on us and that we might receive the Promise of the Spirit. He sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to help us in every area of life. But the fact is people identify with the wrong thing many times.  They are more focused on the curse than the blessing.  All through the centuries people of all cultures have believed in curses and blessings.  That’s what leads them to do things like wear beads and charms for protection.  As a Christian, thank God we don’t need such things. We can simply believe God’s Word that we’re blessed not cursed. Why? Because Christ hath (past tense) redeemed us from the curse of the law.

You simply have to find out what is included in the curse of the Law.  In Deuteronomy 28, we see a list of blessings and curses. Blessings if you obey and curses if you rebel. These curses existed for disobedience and breaking the Law of God. We have to make the decision to obey and receive the blessing.  People many times just leave it all up to God. But God told us in Deuteronomy 30:19  “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:”  We have a choice – choose life and blessing or death and cursing.

In Numbers 22, an individual named Baalam was hired by Balak, the king, to curse the people of God.  They truly believed in curses.  However, after many unsuccessful attempts, Baalam responded to the king in Numbers 23:8, “How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed?”  He knew God had blessed his people and he couldn’t change it.

In our lives, we have to make the decision to believe God’s Word – above everything else. If He said we’re blessed and not cursed then we should agree with Him.

Galatians 3:9 declares, “So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.”  When people hear the word “blessing” they automatically think of money.  However, “the blessing” included eternal life, freedom from sickness and bondage, as well as freedom from poverty.  This is the Gospel – Good News.  I’m no longer under the curse. No one can convince me other wise.  I’m blessed with faithful Abraham and Abraham’s blessing is mine!

Is Healing in the Atonement? Part Two

We established the fact last week that Jesus died for our sins. Most everyone will agree with that fact. However, the Bible also says that He paid for our sicknesses and diseases; at the same exact time. Everything Jesus did for us, He did as our substitute.

Is Healing in the Atonement? Part 1

This is a question many have asked. We see the day of Atonement occur, once a year, when the High Priest would offer sacrifices for the sins of the people, as well as himself.
